<p>As an adapted PE teacher, Lissa develops and delivers individualized physical education instruction and services for her students, many of whom have exceptional physical needs due to motor developmental delays or other impairments. She helps her students access activities and skills many of us take for granted, and this improves their lives in school and beyond! Here&rsquo;s a snippet Lissa shared about a recent success:</p>

<p><em>&ldquo;I have a student who was using a walker continuously to be able to walk. He has sores on his feet which have made it difficult for him to walk as well. He had a goal set to be able to step over a hurdle using his walker. However, gradually with repeated practice working on his balance/stability he is now able to stand and walk on his own and exceeded his goal!! I am so excited for him and the journey ahead!!&rdquo;</em></p>

Here, Haeil shares what motivated her to become a behavior intervention implementor, what she enjoys about working with Cross Country Education and our partner schools, and what advice she has for others considering a career in behavior intervention.</p><h3>Why did you decide to work in special education and behavior intervention?</h3><p>I have always wanted to help others. I started out with ABA [applied behavior analysis] therapy after graduating college. After a few years, I went on to working with adults with mental illness, which was very rewarding. However, my heart was always in working with children. So, after becoming a mom myself, I really felt the need to immerse myself in working with children again.</p><h3>What do you like about working with Cross Country Education and the schools Cross Country Education partners with?</h3><p>I love the fact that I get to meet different students and teachers. I thrive in constant change of environment, so working with different schools is perfect for me.</p><h3>What kind of advice would you give to those starting out in behavior intervention implementation?</h3><p>If I would pick one piece of advice to give to those starting out in the field, I would say be the BII [behavior intervention implementor] you would want to have for yourself or for your family.
