Cross Country Healthcare is proud to announce that its clinical team, led by Chief Clinical Officer Dr. Hank Drummond, has been honored with a DAISY Team Award. The clinical team answered more than 13,000 calls from healthcare professionals to the company&rsquo;s COVID hotline during 2020, and Dr. Drummond was looking for a special way to recognize their efforts.

&ldquo;I hear the stories that the clinical team members are dealing with each day. I see the emotional drain on their faces. They have been skilled at counseling, interventions and working with clients to find solutions throughout the pandemic,&rdquo; said Dr. Drummond.

In addition to the team receiving a plaque, individual team members each received a certificate and a commemorative pin. DAISY Foundation CEO and co-founder Bonnie Barnes also recorded a special message to be played for the clinical team during their award ceremony.

The DAISY Award was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes, whose life was shortened by an autoimmune disease at the age of 33. To honor his memory, but also to recognize the nursing excellence that so impressed them during his hospitalization, they came up with the acronym D.A.I.S.Y., which stands for &ldquo;diseases attacking the immune system.&rdquo; DAISY Award recipients are selected based on special acts of kindness and compassion they provide patients and their families as well as outstanding clinical skill. The DAISY Team Award honors collaboration by two or more people, led by a nurse, who identify and meet patient and/or patient family needs by going above and beyond the traditional role of nursing.
