Job Summary
Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) in Morristown, New Jersey. The organization is seeking a Speech and Language Pathologist to provide inpatient services by performing patient assessments, developing and implementing individualized treatment plans, and supporting discharge planning. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.

Job Details

  • Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM; minimum 40 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Minimum of one (1) year of experience in acute, subacute or home care settings; Graduate of an accredited speech and language program with a minimum of a Master’s degree; Current NJ State license; good customer service and communication skills.

  • Additional Information:
    • Performs patient assessments, including baseline assessment of swallowing, communication, and cognitive abilities as indicated.
    • Maintains a safe environment by assessing the social environment, addressing education needs, assessing potential clinical risks, and following universal infection control measures.
    • Implements treatment programs per physician orders, including communication and safe swallow support, cognitive training as indicated, therapeutic exercise instruction, and goal-oriented functional restoration.
    • Provides discharge planning and referral to resources as needed, and communicates with physicians, nurses, and other clinical disciplines as necessary.
    • Develops, implements, and evaluates the plan of care using evidence-based knowledge; revises the care plan as indicated within physician orders.
    • Uses age-appropriate teaching methods for patients and families, evaluates and revises teaching plans as necessary, and documents patient education tools utilized.
    • Demonstrates compliance with agency policies, including case management responsibilities, knowledge of home care regulations and insurance reimbursement guidelines, regulatory compliance, documentation policies, and interdisciplinary communication.
    • Ensures appropriate utilization of services, follows scheduling processes, maintains visit productivity standards, and participates in team and interdisciplinary (IDT) meetings.
    • Prioritizes scheduling to accommodate patient needs and travels to patient homes and facilities as indicated; complies with paid time off request process and weekend/holiday requirements.
    • Assists with team development by providing orientation to new employees, accepting other assignments as requested, and cross-training to learn new skills; use of personal vehicle is required for home visits.
