Job Summary:
The Telemetry Medical Surgical Float Registered Nurse position is located in Waterloo, Iowa. This role involves providing specialized nursing care across various units including Med Surg, Behavioral Health, Emergency Department, and Intensive Care Unit, with a focus on telemetry monitoring. Candidates are required to bring their active Iowa or multistate license on the first day. The position requires a minimum of 2 years of current experience in Progressive Care, Stepdown, Med Surg, Telemetry, or Med/Surg/Telemetry, with proficiency in EKG/ECG interpretation, familiarity with specific medication drips, and experience with the EPIC electronic medical record system.
Job Details:
- Location: Waterloo, Iowa
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, minimum 48 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Active Iowa or multistate license, ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), BLS (Basic Life Support), De-Escalation Certification (e.g., CPI, MAB, MOAB), NIH Stroke Scale Certificate (preferred), 24 months of experience in Progressive Care, Stepdown, Med Surg, Telemetry, or Med/Surg/Telemetry, and proficiency with medication drips including heparin, insulin, Lasix, Amiodarone, Diltizem, Digoxin. Candidates must have experience reading EKG/ECG, and familiarity with the EPIC EMR.
- Preferred Qualifications: Trauma Level 1 experience, Teaching Hospital experience, proficiency in multiple EMR platforms (Epic, Cerner, Meditech, PointClickCare).
- Additional Information: Floating across Med Surg, BH, ED, ICU, and post-procedural areas as needed; must complete Basic Dysrhythmia Assessment (passing score of 80%) during onboarding. Orientation scheduled for 08/10/2026. The candidate must work 1-2 of the upcoming summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day).
