Job Summary
Registered Nurse, Step Down Unit. This role provides care for adult patients in a high-acuity step-down setting requiring advanced monitoring and management of complex conditions. The position involves night shifts, collaboration with interdisciplinary support services, and floating to lower-acuity units within scope as needed.

- Required Qualifications: Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience; travel nursing experience; trauma level II experience; current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications; proficiency with titration of vasopressors, sedation medications, and insulin infusions; arterial line management; cardiac arrhythmia recognition and management; chest tube care; tracheostomy and ventilated patient care; noninvasive airway management; and high-acuity step-down or intensive care experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: Previous charge experience and electronic charting system experience.
- Schedule: Night shifts of 12 hours, totaling 36 hours per week. Every other weekend is required, with coverage on either Friday and Saturday or Saturday and Sunday.
- Float: Float rotation may be required.
- Additional Information: Provides care for adult patients in a high-acuity step-down unit with an approximate 1:4 patient ratio. Required clinical capabilities include management of bilevel positive airway pressure (BiPAP), high-flow oxygen therapy, arterial lines, cardiac drips, vasoactive drips, chest tubes, tracheostomies, temporary and permanent pacemakers, cardiac telemetry, blood products, feeding tubes, central lines, and complex cardiac, neurological, respiratory, renal, and surgical conditions. The role requires proficiency in troubleshooting ventilator alarms and managing patients receiving titrated vasopressors and continuous intravenous sedation.
