Job Summary:
Cardiac Step Down Nurse in the Heart & Vascular Institute located in Morgantown, West Virginia. This role involves providing specialized care for post-operative cardiac and vascular patients in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day of assignment.
Job Details:
- Location: Morgantown, West Virginia
- Unit type: Heart & Vascular Institute
- Shift Schedule: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), three shifts per week with weekends and holidays as scheduled; minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS); current license willing to wait; minimum of 2 years of experience in cardiac/vascular care; experience with cardiac/vascular patients; proficiency in reading strips; ability to titrate drips such as Heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, TPA, Lasix, Dobutamine
- Preferred Qualifications: Cardiac/vascular experience
- Floats: Yes — floating to sister units in the Heart & Vascular Institute
- Additional Information:
- Unit notes specify the need for excellent teamwork and high-quality patient care
- Charge Nurse/House Supervisors available 24/7
- Nursing assistants: 1 clinical associate per 8-10 patients, with a goal of 4-5 assistants on shift
- Equipment used includes Cpap, Bipap, Hi-flow oxygen
- Responsible for interpreting strips with the help of monitor technicians and clinical medical technicians (CMTs)
- Unit specific orientation: 2-3 shifts
Mandatory submission requirements:
- Only one position at a time across the entire system
- Drivers license address must be outside 50 miles from the facility
- Previous permanent candidates must be gone for 2 years
- Previous travelers there for 1 full year must be gone for 2 years
- All submittals must include an unexpired driver’s license copy
- Travel teams must be submitted together in one email
- Only 2 candidates may be submitted per opening; if at max, submissions are held for future openings
