Job Summary
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN) — Florence, SC. The organization’s RN is responsible for delivering quality patient care by ensuring the nursing care plan is followed. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orienting personnel, completes timely and accurate documentation, and supports patient safety-focused care processes. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details
- Schedule: Nights, 12 shift hours, minimum 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required prior to first shift
- Minimum bedside clinical experience: 0 years (as stated)
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (required prior to first shift for CIRH-only assignments)
- Minimum two (2) years bedside clinical experience
- Responsibilities:
- Perform nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission and use the data to develop individualized plans of care
- Identify patient teaching needs and goals and collaborate with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team
- Provide timely patient information and status updates for initial and weekly re-evaluation team conferences
- Complete accurate, succinct, and timely documentation of assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the medical record according to policy
- Provide direct patient care using the nursing process (assess, plan, implement, evaluate), with emphasis on patient/family/significant other education
- Initiate discharge planning and discharge-related patient teaching beginning on the day of admission
- Communicate pertinent changes in patient status to support continuity of care and patient safety, including the attending physician and charge nurse
- Provide direction, training, and supervision for ancillary nursing personnel through delegation, prioritization, and effective time management
- Support personal and environmental safety in accordance with hospital and nursing policies and procedures
- Assist with unit team building activities to maintain a positive, efficient work environment
- Maintain communication with leadership regarding service needs such as supplies, equipment (including repairs), and clinical training
- Assume charge responsibility following the orientation period, as requested
- Engage in professional growth through continuing education and self-study
- Prioritize activities and manage time to meet patient needs
- Perform other duties as requested
