Job Summary:
The organization is seeking a Registered Nurse for a PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) position in Washington, DC. The role involves providing care to post-operative patients, monitoring recovery and vital signs, managing symptoms, and educating patients and their families. Candidates must have a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state/district. Prior PACU and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) experience is required, with a minimum of two years in ICU. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day of assignment.

Job Details:

  • Location: Washington, DC
  • Schedule: Day shift, three 12-hour shifts per week, totaling 36 hours. Will include Saturday day shift from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, which is a worked day. On-call shifts are scheduled for Saturday night (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM), Sunday (7:00 AM to 7:30 PM), and Sunday night (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM). Travelers must choose 1-2 Saturday shifts within an eight-week schedule. Candidates must select two day and two night shifts during the same period.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state/district; recent PACU/Preoperative experience; minimum two years ICU experience; graduate from an accredited or NLN-approved RN program; BSN degree highly desired.
  • Certifications: PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support), BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support); CPAN (Continuing Professional Associate Nurse), TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course), CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse) are highly desirable.
  • Additional Information: Candidates must have the ability to think critically and work independently. Prior PACU/Preop experience is required. Responsibilities include monitoring recovery, recording vital signs, observing for anesthesia side effects, treating post-op symptoms, updating medical records, and patient education.
