Job Summary:
The Pacu (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) Registered Nurse (RN) position is located in Shreveport, Louisiana. This role involves providing care to a diverse patient population ranging from newborns to geriatrics, including orthopedic, general surgery, vascular, ENT, urology, and breast reconstruction cases. Candidates are required to bring their nursing license on the first day of employment. The position offers a full-time schedule with shifts from 11:30 AM to 8:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 11:30 AM - 8:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a minimum of 40 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing; current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association; current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association; current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification; RN license in the state of employment or a compact license; 0 years of experience required.
- Preferred Qualifications: One year of experience in a related nursing specialty or perioperative RN residency; recent practice in an operating room or perioperative setting.
- Additional Information: All newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire. New hires are precepted by designated trained staff and must complete initial onboarding requirements, including competency validations specific to the perioperative department. Completion of all annual competency verification requirements is necessary.
- Position Responsibilities: Providing routine and complex nursing care independently, utilizing the nursing process for assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation. Managing and supporting both routine and critically ill patients, addressing their psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs, and providing patient and family education. Administering medications and treatments using appropriate protocols, monitoring for side effects and treatment efficacy, documenting care, and making appropriate delegations.
