Job Summary: Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Clinical Nurse — Espanola, New Mexico. The clinical nurse provides direct, patient-centered care to an assigned group of patients during a shift using the nursing process. Responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting patient needs, actions taken, and patient responses, while coordinating care with the patient/family and the healthcare team. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Days (varied), 8 shift hours, minimum 40 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification completed through American Heart Association (AHA), American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification completed through AHA, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification completed through AHA, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross; Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN); at least one 13-week previous travel assignment; two (2) years current experience in specialty; competency with patient care using the nursing process, including patient assessment, care planning, and medication administration.
  • Preferred Qualifications: EPIC experience.
  • Additional Information: Floating between departments and/or local locations within 20 miles is required. Clinical supervision responsibilities include oversight of Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and non-licensed assistive personnel. Responsibilities include adherence to protocols and standards of care, administering medications and treatments as prescribed by physician orders or standard protocols (and documenting per policy), supporting patient and family learning and discharge needs throughout the episode of care, and completing population/age-specific/procedure and protocol education and competency testing per unit standards. Traveler must pass the Basic Cardiac Arrhythmias (BCA) testing during the first week of assignment; travelers who do not pass the BCA test will be dismissed.
