Job Summary
Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse (RN) position providing Phase I recovery for general surgery and procedural patients receiving general anesthesia or deep sedation. The role also supports pre-procedure care and Phase II recovery for moderate sedation cases in Interventional Radiology, gastrointestinal, and surgical settings, including admission and discharge for same-day procedures.
Job Details
- Schedule: Day shift, 8 hours per shift, 40 hours per week; variable start time between 7:00 AM and 3:00 PM. On-call coverage may be offered as needed and is not required.
- Required Qualifications:
- Valid California Registered Nurse (RN) license
- At least 2 years of experience
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications
- Previous charge experience
- Experience with charting systems
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification
- Level I or Level II trauma experience
- Additional Information:
- Provides Phase I and Phase II post-anesthesia recovery care for adolescent, adult, pediatric, and geriatric patients.
- Supports airway assessment, extubation, pain assessment and management, procedural sedation monitoring, dysrhythmia recognition and management, arterial line management, and emergency medication administration.
- Performs pre-procedure assessment, post-procedure monitoring, patient admission and discharge, and follow-up for same-day procedures.
- Collaborates with Interventional Radiology, gastrointestinal, endoscopy, and surgical services.
- Patient ratios are approximately 2:1 on day shifts.
- The care setting includes Level II trauma services and support from respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, physical therapy, phlebotomy, social services, interpretation services, rapid response teams, and transportation.
