Pediatric Psychology — Bangor, Maine. The position provides behavioral health nursing care to pediatric and adult patients in an acute inpatient setting. Responsibilities include psychiatric and medical care, patient safety, therapeutic group participation, de-escalation, and collaboration with an interdisciplinary care team.
Job Details
- Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, 36 hours per week. Start date: 12/07/2026. Assignment end date: 03/06/2027. Weekend rotation is every other weekend, with holiday participation expected on a rotating basis. No on-call requirement.
- Required Qualifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Maine state nursing license; minimum of 1 year of behavioral health nursing experience; experience with de-escalation, physical restraints, medication administration, group facilitation, and clinical documentation.
- Preferred Qualifications: Pediatric behavioral health experience.
- Float: Float rotation may be required.
- Additional Information: Care is provided to voluntary and involuntary pediatric patients ages 5–18 and adult patients from age 18 through geriatric populations. Common conditions include eating disorders, depression, suicidal ideation, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, and gender dysphoria. The role includes traditional medical and psychiatric care, specialized therapeutic activities, patient observation, safety interventions, and participation in escalation response and post-event debriefing. Travelers may have the opportunity to serve as charge nurse, although this is not required. Orientation begins with weekday day shifts during the first week, followed by scheduled 12-hour shifts during the second week.
