Job Summary:
The operating room with open heart experience is located in a hospital setting in Santa Monica, California. This position requires a Certified Registered Nurse (RN) with a specialty in operating room open heart procedures. Candidates must possess a valid California license and bring their license on the first day. The role involves working in a high-acuity environment, providing advanced cardiac surgical care, and supporting complex procedures including coronary artery bypass grafts, valve replacements, TAVRs, and septal defect repairs.

Job Details:

  • Shift: 8 hours per shift with specific on-call requirements, including two primary weekday calls (11:30 PM – 6:00 AM) in the 6-week call cycle, two secondary weekday calls, and up to two primary weekend calls (12-hour shifts).
  • Qualifications: Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in operating room open heart procedures, with one year of charge nurse experience, and at least one year of travel experience. Current BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications are required. Licensure in California is mandatory and must be in hand at time of application.
  • Skills: Experience with atrial septal defect repair, coronary artery bypass grafts, Maze procedures, mitral valve replacement, TAVRs, infection control, laser safety, radiation safety, specimen handling, universal protocol, and wound management is required.
  • Additional Requirements: Candidates must have completed a minimum of 16 hours of pre-start modules, be willing to work holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day), and provide two references covering the past three years. A valid LA fire card within 30 days is required.
  • Experience & Documentation: Applicants should have worked at a healthcare facility in a similar setting and provide responses regarding previous employment at a Providence facility, if applicable.
  • Schedule & Coverage: The role involves working at least 40 hours per week, with availability to float between facilities within California as needed.
