Job Summary:
The operating room registered nurse specializing in the open heart surgical team is based in San Diego, California. This role involves providing specialized perioperative care to cardiac surgery patients, including those undergoing open heart procedures, with potential involvement in orthopedic, neurological, and robotic surgeries when no cardiac cases are scheduled. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details:
- Location: San Diego, California
- Schedule: Days, with variable shift hours from 6:15 AM to 11:00 AM, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Valid California Registered Nurse (RN) license, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association, at least three years of recent RN experience in the role, with at least two years in a specialty area including operating room open heart surgery, orthopedic cases, neuro cases, and robotics cases.
- Additional Information:
- Must have strong cardiovascular operating room (CVOR) experience, specifically in open heart surgery.
- Experience with nursing process, patient care planning, documentation (IPOC, IPER), patient education, adult-learning theory, socio-cultural analysis, therapeutic communication, patient advocacy, interdisciplinary coordination, delegation, and compliance adherence.
- Schedule includes on-call hours: 12 hours Friday night overnight and 12 hours Saturday, with a 30-minute response time, on a four-week rotating schedule.
- Must complete the operating room questionnaire and attach to the submission packet.
