Job Summary
Registered Nurse – Operating Room Open Heart: Provides independent nursing and delegated medical functions in accordance with accepted practice standards. The role assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care; provides patient education and treatment; monitors therapy plans; and documents care according to regulatory guidelines. The position may float within the scope of competency and qualifications and may include on-call responsibilities.
Job Details
- Required Qualifications: Current Registered Nurse license in the state of practice or a compact Registered Nurse license; Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) from an accredited school of nursing; minimum of one year of experience; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA); Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA); skills in health teaching, health counseling, therapy and treatment, nursing care, health data assessment, delegated medical functions, and nursing documentation.
- Preferred Qualifications: Previous Registered Nurse experience; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
- Schedule: Day shifts from 6:45 a.m. to 5:15 p.m., 10-hour shifts, no set day off, 40 hours per week; cardiovascular operating room (CVOR) call shifts are required, including 21 call shifts within a nine-week schedule.
- Additional Information: Responsibilities include assessing health status through ongoing data collection, providing supportive and restorative therapy, executing delegated medical functions, referring patients for further evaluation or treatment, reviewing and monitoring treatment plans, using available resources, and performing other assigned duties. The Registered Nurse may work in the cardiovascular operating room (CVOR) and/or main operating rooms and may be required to float to other departments within the scope of competency and qualifications.
