Job Summary:
Operating Room Open Heart Registered Nurse (RN) position in Burlington, Vermont. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day. This position involves providing specialized cardiovascular and open heart surgical nursing care in a busy, large academic hospital setting.

Job Details:

  • Specialty: Operating Room Open Heart (OR OH)
  • Location: Burlington, Vermont
  • Shift Time: Rotating Days/Evens (D/E)
  • Shift Hours: 12 hours per shift
  • Minimum Experience (Years): 0
  • Schedule:
    • 4 ten-hour days (0645-1715) or 3 twelve-hour days (0645-1915)
    • One or two 12-hour weekday calls (1900-0715)
    • Usually only one call during the week unless short-staffed
    • One full weekend of call every 5 weeks
  • Required Qualifications:
    • Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) RN experience with a minimum of 2 years of recent experience
    • Epic electronic medical record (EMR) experience from within the past 2 years (non-negotiable)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
    • CNOR (Perioperative Nurse Certification) preferred
    • Prior travel experience required
    • Large (500+ beds), academic, teaching hospital experience required
    • Must have general operating room experience and high competency in cardiovascular/open heart surgery
    • Must have current BLS certification and Epic EMR experience within the past 2 years
  • Additional Information:
    • May be required to float to other operating rooms (general, ortho, neuro, ENT, etc.) — if floated, circulating duties only; scrubbing not required
    • Epic recent experience from within the past 2 years is required and non-negotiable
    • Must be flexible with schedule to meet unit and patient care needs
    • Public transportation is not accessible; reliable transportation, personal or rental vehicle, is strongly recommended during November – April when all-season or snow tires are necessary
    • All work history information (bed count, facility type, EMR, etc.) must be complete to submit application
    • All employment gaps over 90 days must be explained
