Job Summary:
An Operating Room First Assistant (ORFA) position is available in Northampton, Massachusetts. The role involves assisting surgeons in the operating room under the direction of the Nurse Manager, following established organizational and departmental policies and procedures. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day of employment. The schedule consists of four 10-hour days per week, with on-call responsibilities during evenings and weekends.
Job Details:
- Location: Northampton, Massachusetts
- Schedule: 4x10s shift pattern with on-call duties for two days a week from 5 p.m. (or from the end of the shift) to 7 p.m., and one weekend every three weekends (Saturday and Sunday). Weekend call is for 24 hours/day.
- Required Qualifications: Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Massachusetts, five (5) years of diversified peri-operative nursing experience with both scrubbing and circulating proficiency, ACLS certification, completion of an RN First Assisting course conforming to the Core Curriculum set forth by the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN), and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
- Additional Information: The position requires the candidate to be a graduate of an approved School of Nursing. Experience in both circulating and first assisting is required, as the role involves 50% circulating and 50% first assisting duties. The schedule includes 40 hours per week, primarily during daytime hours.
