Job Summary:
This is a Registered Nurse (RN) position in the Medical Surgical with Telemetry specialty located in Peoria, Illinois. The role involves caring for neuroscience and acute medical-surgical patients on a dedicated neuro unit. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details:
- Shift: 12-hour nights
- Minimum Hours Per Week: 36 hours
- Start Date: 07/20/2026
- Required Qualifications: Illinois active or pending license, Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA), NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification, at least 1 year of experience in trauma or neuro units, previous travel experience (no first-time travelers), and experience working on a dedicated neuro unit.
- Float: Float in rotation with the staff. When floated outside the general unit, only skills that are competent will be performed, and assignment will be with a trained nurse.
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, with every other weekend and holiday required.
- Additional Information:
- Charge nurse available 24/7, house supervisor on duty 24/7.
- No scrub color requirement; tattoos covered during duty; piercings limited to ears.
- Orientation: 2 days of computer and unit-specific training, including patient care with a preceptor.
- Personnel will troubleshoot high-flow oxygen devices only for stable COVID-19 cases, which are rare on this unit.
- House-wide telemetry (Phillips monitors); nurses do not need to read strips.
- Staff will try to meet requested shifts and will block shifts if staffing allows.
