Job Summary:
The Neuro Medical Surgical Acute Nurse (RN) position is located in Peoria, Illinois. The role involves providing specialized nursing care on a dedicated neuro unit, with a focus on patients experiencing stroke, spine surgery, seizure, brain tumor, head injury, or other neuroscience-related conditions. Candidates must bring their active Illinois (IL) nursing license on the first day. The position requires working night shifts and adheres to a 12-hour shift schedule.
Job Details:
- Location: Peoria, Illinois
- Shift: 12-hour nights (try to meet request preferences, with staffing considerations)
- Minimum Hours Per Week: 36 hours
- Schedule: One shift per day, every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday considered as weekend days), and every other holiday
- Required Qualifications: Active Illinois (IL) nursing license or confirmation that application process has been initiated, Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA), Neuro unit experience (level 1 trauma experience, previous travel experience (excluding first-time travelers), prior neuro unit experience), minimum of 1 year of clinical experience, experience with heparin titrated drips including PTT monitoring, EMR experience with EPIC, and active IL license or confirmation of application process.
- Preferred Qualifications: Previous travel experience, experience working in a Neuro MedSurg Acute setting.
- Duties: Provide bedside care for neuroscience patients, assist with titratable drips such as heparin, troubleshoot telemetry monitors (Phillips), perform patient assessments, and read telemetry strips. RNs may be required to troubleshoot high-flow oxygen devices for stable COVID patients, but COVID cases are rare.
- Additional Information:
- Float rotation with rest of staff; floated staff are competent in applicable skills and trained for specific units.
- Will receive 2 days of orientation, including computer and unit-specific training with an educator and preceptor.
- No scrub color requirement; tattoos should be covered while on duty, piercings limited to ears.
- Clinicians must complete the submission with the last four digits of SSN and requested time off.
