Job Summary:
A Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Medical Surgical with Telemetry (MedSurg/Tele) is needed in Concord, North Carolina. This position involves providing care to patients with chronic diseases, congestive heart failure, mental health conditions, addiction services, COPD, diabetes, wounds, and geriatric needs. The RN will be responsible for assessing and managing patients with cardiac rhythms, non-titrating cardiac drips, tubes, drains, IV starts, blood products, and wound care. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day of assignment.
Job Details:
- Location: Concord, North Carolina
- Shift: 12-hour shifts (0700-1900 and 1900-0700)
- Schedule: 6-week schedule cycle, with weekend rotation every other weekend, and working 75% of holidays
- Required Qualifications: Valid BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications; North Carolina nursing license; 18 months of MedSurg/Telemetry RN experience; high school diploma or equivalent; able to work 36 hours minimum per week; no minimum experience required, but 18 months of experience is preferred
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with non-titrating cardiac drips (e.g., Cardizem, Amiodarone), cardiac rhythm interpretation, caring for patients with tubes/drains, IV starts, blood products, wound care, and dressing changes
- Patient Ratios: Generally 1:4-6, potentially increasing to 1:7-8 during surge times depending on acuity
- Support within the Department: Nurse Manager, Clinical Supervisors, staff RNs, CNA, Clinical Mentor, Rapid Response RN, House Supervisor
- Technology/Equipment: EPIC electronic medical record (EMR), scales, GBS machine, transfer device, vein finder, EKG, crash cart, language interpreter, tele-medicine cart, Doppler
- Floating: Must be willing to float within the region and scope of practice to facilities in Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and Central Division (including main hospital and pediatrics if applicable). Floating mid-shift will be paid for travel time between facilities.
- Orientation: 2 days at the facility and departmental orientation
