Job Summary:
A registered nurse specializing in medical-surgical with telemetry at a healthcare facility in Albemarle, North Carolina. This position involves providing care for patients with diagnoses such as stroke, COPD, chest pain, altered mental status, and gastrointestinal bleeding. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day. The assignment begins on June 29, 2026, and includes night shifts totaling 12 hours per shift.
Job Details:
- Location: Albemarle, North Carolina
- Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Valid BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certifications; active license; 18 months of Med/Tele experience; familiarity with Epic electronic medical record system.
- Special Skills: General Med/Tele skillset including stroke assessments and NIH evaluations, chest tube management, peripheral IV starts, trach care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, NGT placement, drain/tube management (e.g., Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals), Foley insertion and management, PCA pumps, and medication administration including cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, and IV fluids.
- Patient Care Support: Certified Nurse Assistants (CNAs) may assist with Foley insertions (if certified), IV removals, vitals, and activities of daily living.
- Department Support: Phlebotomy services available 24/7; no designated IV/VAT team; telemetry monitoring and tech support available 24/7; hospitalist team present 24/7.
- Technology and Equipment: EMR system: Epic; IV pumps: Alaris; Medications dispensed via Omnicell; monitors: Philips; floating to regional facilities within scope of practice may be required.
- Float Policy: Floating within region and scope of practice; may float to facilities including Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and Central Division; mid-shift floating is paid for travel time.
- Orientation: Two days of departmental orientation.
- Support within department: Charge nurse may or may not have a patient assignment.
- Additional notes: Scrub color is navy blue; free parking; positive, team-driven unit culture; must have at least 18 months of Med/Tele experience; support staff capable of performing various duties as specified.
