Job Summary:
The position is for a Medical Surgical Floor (MS) charge nurse in Wheeling, West Virginia. This role involves managing a high-acuity patient care unit with a focus on common diagnoses such as congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cellulitis, and pneumonia. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day. The position offers 12-hour day and night rotating shifts, with weekend scheduling as needed.
Job Details:
- Location: Wheeling, West Virginia
- Shift: 12-hour day/night rotation, weekends as scheduled
- Schedule: transitioning to Qgenda system, with typically half of the weekends scheduled
- Required Qualifications: BLS (American Heart Association), NIHSS certification; minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar setting; valid licensure and driver’s license to be disclosed at time of submission
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with EPIC electronic medical record system, knowledge of common patient diagnoses such as CHF, COPD, cellulitis, pneumonia, urosepsis, AKI
- Float: Floating as needed based on census; external travelers are first to float
- Additional Information:
- One charge RN on the floor per shift
- PCTs (Patient Care Technicians) available on the unit
- No ventilator support; intermittent BIPAP only
- Remote observation via monitor techs
- Scrub color: Navy Blue
- No standby or call requirements; scheduled as needed for weekends
