Job Summary:
The healthcare organization is seeking a Medical Surgical (MS) Charge Nurse at the Wheeling, West Virginia location. This role involves providing clinical leadership on a medical surgical unit, ensuring patient care standards are met, and facilitating communication among team members. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day of the assignment.

Job Details:

  • Location: Wheeling, West Virginia
  • Schedule: 12-hour day/night rotating shifts, weekends as scheduled, transitioning to Qgenda scheduling system, with usually half of the weekends scheduled
  • Required Qualifications:
    • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA), National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
    • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of recent medical-surgical nursing experience
    • Education: No Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
    • License: Ability to submit a valid nursing license for the state of West Virginia
  • Additional Information:
    • Bed capacity: 30 beds with a patient ratio of up to 1:7; RN must be comfortable with this ratio
    • Nurse aides: Yes, Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) available on the unit
    • Clinical responsibilities: Titration of heparin drips based on activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT) results is not required
    • Equipment: No ventilators; intermittent Bilevel Positive Airway Pressure (BiPAP) available, no mechanical ventilators
    • Telemetry: Monitored remotely by monitor technicians
    • Float requirement: As needed based on census; external traveler staff have priority for floating duties
    • Scrub uniform color: Navy Blue
    • Certification and licensing notes: No BSN required; License to submit not required
    • Trauma Level: Not specified
