Job Summary:
This is a Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) position specializing in Urology/Nephrology located in Springfield, Illinois. The role involves providing high-quality care on a Med Surg unit, with a focus on patients requiring renal and urological management, including Kidney Transplant cases. Candidates are required to bring their active Illinois RN license on the first day of the assignment.

Job Details:

  • Position: Med Surg RN - Urology/Nephrology
  • Shift: 3x12 Nights (4:45 PM – 7:15 AM)
  • Schedule: Minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of medical/surgical nursing experience required; 0 years of experience as listed in the job order
  • Certifications: BLS and active Illinois RN license required, with AHA or Red Cross certifications only; RQI cards not accepted
  • Charting System: Cerner experience required, position-specific
  • Float: Float within hospital or to affiliate hospitals is required
  • Patient Ratio: Not specified, but unit handles adult patients with a daily census of approximately 23
  • Additional Responsibilities: Telemetry remote monitoring, use of Rapid Response Teams, pre/post hemodialysis management, handling of blood products, central line and PICC line care, starting IVs, managing chest tubes, BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, nasal cannula, nond-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, portable oxygen tanks, isolation precautions, and wound care/wound vac
  • Patient Population: Adults with urology/nephrology illnesses, including Kidney Transplant, urinary procedures, and common conditions like kidney stones, enlarged prostates, and complex bladder surgeries
  • Additional Requirements: Must submit 2-3 interview times upon application, SSN and DOB required at time of submission, and must have Illinois RN license in hand or in application process. Candidates must be separated for 12 months before applying as travelers.
  • Vaccinations: Flu vaccination required; COVID-19 vaccine not required.
  • Other: Candidates should be prepared to work two out of three major holidays; no on-call required.
