Job Summary:
An experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is needed in a high-acuity Labor and Delivery (L&D) department located in White Plains, New York. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day. This position involves providing specialized nursing care for high-risk obstetric patients, including those undergoing cesarean sections and other complex conditions. The role supports a fast-paced environment with a focus on quality patient assessments and customer service excellence.
Job Details:

- Certifications: ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), BLS (Basic Life Support) per the American Heart Association, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Education and Experience Requirements: BSN REQUIRED; 2 years of relevant experience; current license to submit
- Responsibilities include managing high-risk obstetric patients, performing full assessments, and supervising patient care without the ability to insert intrauterine pressure catheters (IUPC)
- Clinical environment includes triage/inpatient beds, labor beds, and operating room beds with a patient population consisting of high-risk obstetric cases, antepartum, and magnesium sulfate patients
- Schedule includes every third weekend for days, with three weekend shifts in a four-week period; night weekend shifts on Fridays and Saturdays
- Floor-specific orientation lasts 2-3 shifts
- Floating to OB or nursery units may be required; will not take patients during float shifts
- Common diagnoses include cesarean sections, high-risk obstetric conditions, and low-risk antepartum cases
- The hospitalist or intensivist team provides in-house coverage three nights per week, with 24/7 RT and pharmacy services
- The environment involves a customer service-oriented approach, requiring candidates to demonstrate strong clinical skills and excellent patient interaction abilities
- Additional notes: Scrub colors are provided by the hospital, and nurse aides and scrub techs support clinical care
