Job Summary
Registered Nurse, Labor and Delivery — Tacoma, WA. This position provides care for high-acuity obstetric patients throughout labor, delivery, antepartum, and postpartum care. The role requires proficiency in operating room support for cesarean deliveries, fetal monitoring, obstetric triage, and newborn recovery.
Job Details
- Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, four shifts per week, totaling 48 hours per week.
- Assignment Dates: 11/30/2026–03/06/2027.
- Required Qualifications: Registered Nurse with at least two years of Labor and Delivery experience; Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) certification through the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN); high-acuity labor and delivery experience; proficiency with obstetric triage, operating room circulation for cesarean deliveries, cervical examinations, fetal monitoring interpretation, and newborn recovery; electronic medical record experience required.
- Preferred Qualifications: Five or more years of Labor and Delivery experience preferred.
- Float: Float rotation may be required.
- Additional Information: Patient populations include high-risk pregnancies, hypertension, magnesium administration, preterm labor, inductions, epidurals, multiple births, insulin drips, premature rupture of membranes, and postpartum hemorrhage. Patient assignments follow Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses guidelines, including one patient during active labor, two patients during non-active labor, and two to three antepartum patients based on acuity. Weekend rotation is generally every other weekend and may vary based on operational needs. No mandatory call requirement is expected.
