Intensive Care Unit Neurological (Neuro ICU) — Nights | Athens, TX
The organization is seeking a Neuro Intensive Care Unit (Neuro ICU) Registered Nurse for a nighttime assignment. The role focuses on caring for adult patients with neurological conditions, including post-craniotomy and post-neurosurgery management, as well as supporting specialized interventions such as external ventricular drain (EVD) care and ICP monitoring. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.

Job Details

  • Schedule: 3x12 hour Nights; 36.0 minimum hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) and National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications; state or compact license must be in hand at time of submittal; charting experience required (Epic required per posting); neuro Intensive Care Unit experience required; blood product administration experience; central line care/management experience; experience in CVA/acute stroke management; experience with external ventricular drain (EVD); experience with hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun; experience with ICP monitoring; ability to interpret dysrhythmias; experience with lumbar drains; experience managing dysrhythmias; experience with post-craniotomy and post-neurosurgery management; experience with spinal cord injury and traumatic brain injury care
  • Preferred Qualifications: Neuro Intensive Care Unit experience (2 years preferred); previous charge experience (2 years preferred); community hospital experience; trauma level I or trauma level II experience; travel experience
  • Additional Information: Staffing ratios noted for the unit are 2 patient ratios on nights and 2 weekend patient ratios, with daily census listed as 14 and number of beds listed as 16. Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and unit secretary.
  • Float: Float: Float rotation may be required.
