Job Summary:
An Intensive Care Unit Cardiovascular (ICU OH) registered nurse is needed for a facility located in Largo, Maryland. This role involves providing specialized post-operative care for cardiac surgery patients, including those who have undergone CABG, valve procedures, and other cardiovascular interventions. Candidates are expected to bring their license on the first day of shift and must have at least 2 years of CVICU or open heart experience.
Job Details:
- Shift: 3x12-hour nights from 7:30 PM to 8:00 AM, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Active MD RN license, ACLS and BLS certifications, minimum of 2 years of CVICU or open heart experience, ability to manage arterial lines, chest tubes, ventilators, central lines, and intra-aortic balloon pumps, and experience with post-cardiac surgery patients.
- Preferred Qualifications: Previous charge nurse experience, 1 year of patient ratio experience, Epic charting system familiarity, travel experience.
- Additional Information: Candidates should be comfortable floating within scope to sister units and lower acuity areas as needed. They must complete required compliance documentation, including vaccination requirements, prior to starting. Experience with EMR systems, especially Epic, is preferred.
- Patient Care Focus: Adult and geriatric cardiac surgery patients with diagnoses including CABG, valve repairs, STEMI, NSTEMI, AFIB with RVR, cardiogenic shock, and thoracic procedures such as VATS. Responsibilities include management of complex cardiac cases, medication titration, invasive line care, and monitoring with advanced equipment like FloTrac/Vigileo, Impella, and ECMO.
