Job Summary:
Radiation Therapist in Winchester, Virginia. This position involves providing daily care to cancer patients, including accurate interpretation and delivery of radiation treatments in accordance with the prescriptions and instructions of the radiation oncologist. Additional responsibilities include performing simulations, assisting with treatment planning procedures such as tumor localization and dosimetry, and participating in Brachytherapy procedures. The role requires collaboration with medical teams and ensuring patient safety and comfort during treatments.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Dayshift, Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with a minimum of 40 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Certifications include BLS and ARRT. Candidates must possess a Virginia (VA) license or status of license, or a VA temporary license (acceptable with pending VA license). Education includes experience equivalent to at least 2 years in radiation therapy.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Varian Truebeam and Phillips Big Bore CT Scanner equipment.
  • Responsibilities:
    • Check prescriptions, diagnoses, and patient identification.
    • Schedule patients and explain procedures.
    • Coordinate with physicists and dosimetrists.
    • Prepare treatment rooms and equipment per prescribed specifications.
    • Take and verify images of treated areas, maintaining accurate records.
    • Transfer patients to treatment couches and maintain contact during treatments.
    • Follow radiation safety protocols.
    • Document treatment doses and charges accurately using electronic charts.
    • Properly set up IMRT and 3-D patients, creating immobilization devices as needed.
    • Monitor patients for reactions, report unusual events, and assist in emergency scenarios.
    • Reinforce patient instructions regarding treatment and care.
