Job Summary:
Pharmacist Inpatient (PHARM IP) position based in the healthcare facility. This role involves filling medication orders, monitoring patient drug therapies, providing drug information, and ensuring compliance with pharmacy protocols. The pharmacist will support a busy inpatient setting, including an ICU, cardiac catheterization lab, emergency department, behavioral health unit, and orthopedic surgeries, with shifts scheduled during daytime hours.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Varying day or evening shifts, with options including 8-hour shifts from 7AM-3:30PM, 8AM-4:30PM, 1PM-9PM, 2PM-10PM, or longer shifts such as 7AM-7PM, 8AM-8PM, or 12 noon-10PM. Minimum hours per week are 40.0.
  • Required Qualifications: Pharmacy state licensure required (Louisiana license needed); BLS via AHA required; ACLS via AHA preferred; experience in hospital pharmacy, including treating ICU patients and working in high-volume departments, is a plus; minimum 1 year of experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
  • South Note: No floating required.
  • Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs.
  • Responsibilities: Prepare and dispense drug orders per physician request, interpret drug orders, maintain accurate patient medication records, compound pharmaceuticals, issue controlled substances, and supervise pharmacy support personnel. Provide clinical consultation, patient education, participate in medication safety and stewardship programs, and document all interventions and activities.
  • Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
  • Clinical and Operational Duties: Ensure safe, appropriate, and cost-effective drug therapies; monitor drug regimens for contraindications and interactions; assist with pharmacokinetics and renal dosing; conduct medication reconciliation; report adverse drug reactions; promote formulary adherence; participate in quality improvement; and attend interdisciplinary rounds.
  • Occupational Hazards: Potential exposure to hazardous substances, sharps, and biological materials; proper safety procedures are required.
