Job Summary
Surgical Technician/Operating Room Technician in ORT (Surgical Technician/Operating Room Technician) — Located in a scenic coastal community, this position supports physicians in performing invasive, therapeutic, and diagnostic procedures. The role involves handling instruments, supplies, and equipment to ensure quality patient care during operative procedures, with a focus on maintaining a sterile environment and assisting in surgical processes.
Job Details
- Required Qualifications: Associate Degree or Certificate of Program Completion in Surgical Technology; relevant acute care experience preferred; National Board of Surgical Technologists or Association of Surgical Technologists certification preferred; Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor preferred.
- Schedule: Rotating shift; 8 hours per shift; 40 hours per week.
- Performs verification of surgery to be performed with consent forms and prepares the operating room.
- Passes instruments to the surgeon during procedures and anticipates their supply needs.
- Performs appropriate instrument counts prior to incision and before closure.
- Prepares sterile dressings, secures dressings after incision closure, and checks supplies and equipment needed for the surgical procedure.
- Sets up sterile tables with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications or solutions required for the surgery.
- Assists with draping the sterile field and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.
- Supports room turnover by assisting in cleaning and prepping the room for subsequent patients.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure seamless surgical procedures.
