Job Summary
Surgical Technician/Operating Room Technician, ORT — Location not provided. This position supports surgical procedures in an acute-care operating room setting, serving adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. The role requires proficiency with a broad range of surgical procedures, sterile technique, surgical equipment, specimen handling, and operating room safety practices.
Job Details
- Schedule: 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, 36 hours per week; one weekend shift is required every four weeks.
- Required Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of experience as a surgical technician or operating room technician.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Certification through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
- Experience with general, orthopedic, vascular, gynecologic, neurological, urologic, thoracic, robotic, laparoscopic, and trauma procedures.
- Proficiency with aseptic technique, surgical case carts, crash carts, specimen handling and labeling, electrosurgical units, fiber-optic equipment, drills, cell salvage equipment, and universal time-out procedures.
- Additional Information:
- Supports approximately 30 surgical cases per day across 8 operating rooms.
- Patient population includes adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.
- Staffing ratio is 1:1.
- Forty hours of orientation are provided.
- Holiday coverage is required for 3 of 5 designated holidays, including Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, or New Year’s Day.
- Specific time-off and scheduling requests must be submitted before assignment confirmation.
