Job Summary
Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) — Location not specified. This role involves supporting the decontamination, preparation, sterilization, and processing of surgical instruments and endoscopes within a healthcare facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining sterile processing standards and ensuring all equipment meets operational requirements.

Job Details

  • Certifications, Education Requirements, Degree Requirements, Location Requirements, and Years of Experience: CRCST (HSPA) — preferred certifications can include CER, CIS, and CHL but would not exclude CRCST; a minimum of 5 years of sterile processing experience; must have 1 year experience in a level 1 academic medical center with 20 or more operating rooms; must have service line experience to submit.
  • Schedule: Rotating days and evenings, 8-hour shifts, minimum of 40 hours per week.
  • Additional responsibilities include working every other weekend and/or schedule adjustments to meet the needs of the unit and patient care.
  • The role requires a minimum of two travel assignments of at least 13 weeks each with recent case pick and sterilization experience, specifically in sterile instrument reprocessing and gastrointestinal endoscope reprocessing.
  • Candidate must demonstrate competence in decontamination, prep and pack, steam sterilization, low-temperature sterilization, and endoscope reprocessing, including service lines such as robotics, general, cardiovascular, ENT, eyes, laparoscopic, orthopedic, neuro, dental, plastics, urology, and endoscopy.
  • Familiarity with Olympus scopes, loaner trays, and experience with DaVinci Robot Xi are highly preferred.
  • The candidate should be familiar with hand washing delicate items and processing times vary depending on the set.

  • Public transportation is not accessible in this area; reliable personal or rental vehicle is strongly recommended. Vehicles should be equipped with all-season or snow tires during November through April.
