Job Summary:
The specialized Operating Room Open Heart (CVORT) position is located in Los Angeles, California. This high-acuity trauma center Level 1 is seeking qualified candidates with extensive experience in high-complexity cardiac and neuro surgeries. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day. The position involves working 4 days per week, with shifts scheduled from 6:45 am to 5:15 pm, totaling 10 hours per shift. The assignment begins on 06/29/2026 and lasts for approximately 13 weeks.

Job Details:

  • Location: Los Angeles, CA
  • Shift & Schedule: 4x10 Days shifts, starting at 6:45am (early cases may start at 6:00am) and ending at 5:15pm, minimum of 40 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: 2+ years of travel experience, 4+ years in high-acuity hospitals including a minimum of 2 recent years; expertise in general, robotics, and complex cases such as liver, heart, and neuro surgeries; proficiency in Cerner electronic medical record system; valid California license or license equivalent; BLS certification from the American Heart Association; ACLS certification preferred; ORT certification preferred but not required
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience at large academic centers or renowned heart institutions; ability to handle high-volume cases (8-15/day), complex redo surgeries, and support surgeons efficiently; solo scrub or circulate experience in valve replacements, CABG, intra-aortic balloon pump placement, and major vascular surgeries; experience with heart and lung transplants, Impella, and ventricular assist devices (VAD) preferred.
  • Certifications/Licenses: BLS required; ACLS and ORT certifications preferred; Fire & Safety Certification must be obtained within 30 days if not already held.
  • Facility Details: Trauma Center Level 1, high-acuity teaching and research hospital with 400 beds, 24 OR beds, and an average of 40-50 cases daily, including open heart, neuro, urology, transplants, oncology, orthopedics, and neuro trauma.
  • EMR: Cerner system
