Job Summary
L&D (Labor and Delivery) Department in an unidentified location. This OB Technician position involves working collaboratively with the surgical team in a birth pavilion setting, supporting obstetric procedures and maintaining sterile conditions. The role requires providing patient care, assisting with surgical preparations, and ensuring safety protocols are followed in a small critical access hospital environment.

Job Details

  • Required Qualifications: Certification as a Surgical Technician; at least 1 year of experience; valid clinical license or certification as applicable; current certification in Basic Cardiovascular Life Support (BLS); location flexibility; ability to work night shifts from 12:00 AM to 12:00 PM, totaling 36 hours per week.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of Obstetrics and Gynecology surgical procedures, including Cesarean sections, hysterectomy, and episiotomy procedures.
  • Responsibilities: Demonstrates competence in handling specimens and aseptic techniques, prepares and sterilizes surgical instruments, collaborates with the nursing team to maintain equipment, and ensures procedures are set up efficiently. Assists with patient positioning, prepping, and draping for surgeries, and maintains a sterile environment. Understands workflow and supply needs specific to labor and delivery cases. Follows established department procedures for sterilization, equipment checks, and instrument counts.
  • Schedule: Night shift, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Additional Information: Light call schedule after training for emergent cases only; no trauma call at this small critical access hospital with two operating rooms and one endoscopy suite. The surgical technician is expected to adopt procedures to meet individual patient needs and work in coordination with clinical staff to ensure safety and efficiency.
