Job Summary: Occupational Therapist, Outpatient (OT OP) — Detroit, Michigan. The position evaluates and treats patients with physical, emotional, cognitive, and/or psychosocial deficits. Responsibilities include assessing patients’ ability to complete independent living skills, developing and implementing individualized plans of care, documenting patient progress, and supporting patient discharge planning. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Days shift; 10-hour shifts, minimum 40 hours per week. Schedule options include: (1) 4 ten-hour shifts on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, or (2) 4 ten-hour shifts on Sunday through Wednesday.
- Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required; Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider obtained within 1 month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required; American Heart Association (AHA) Rehab Therapist specializing in Occupational Therapy (OTR) credentialed from the Michigan Board of Occupational Therapists obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
- Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree preferred; acute care experience preferred; willingness to train the right new graduate candidate.
- Additional Information: Evaluates patient ability to safely and effectively perform independent living skills; designs and implements the plan of care, including type and frequency of treatment; documents findings and monitors and modifies the plan of care as needed; seeks consultation as necessary; educates the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits; plans and/or assists with discharge from therapy services, including information on selection and use of adaptive equipment and support programs; oversees the care provided by certified occupational therapy assistants and therapy technicians according to established regulations and practice standards.
