Job Summary

Medical Technologist (MT) – Transfusion Services/Blood Bank Supervisor – Location not specified. This role involves overseeing the daily operations of the blood bank, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and managing testing personnel. The position requires extensive blood bank supervisory experience, with a focus on regulatory adherence and quality assurance.

Job Details

  • Certifications for Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) from ASCP, AMT, AAB, or HEW/HHS are required.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from a regionally accredited college/university.
  • Five years of experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Laboratory Scientist is required.
  • Five years of full-time primary experience in the specific section of responsibility.
  • Schedule: 5 Days, 8 Hours/Day, Minimum 40 Hours Per Week.
  • Must be flexible with schedule and may need to arrive before 8:00 AM, stay after 5:00 PM, and work some weekends as needed, due to the 24/7 service.
  • Extensive experience in regulatory blood bank compliance needed.
  • Preferred advanced SBB (specialty in blood bank).
  • Experience in EPIC Beaker, Soft Bank, Orthovison is highly recommended.
  • Must possess professional social skills to manage high interaction requirements.
  • Responsibilities include supervising high, moderate, and waived complexity testing, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations such as CLIA, TJC, CAP, AABB, and more.
  • Coordinates and manages day-to-day activities, maintains quality control, authorizes remedial actions, and handles staff training and performance reviews.
  • Oversees equipment maintenance, inventory, and documentation.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities and regulatory surveys.
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of Laboratory Information Systems and applications.
