Interventional Radiology (CL) Special Procedures Technologist — Charleston, SC
The Special Procedures Technologist performs imaging procedures that support the direct results of interpretation, following established protocol under the medical supervision of certified radiologists. The role includes assisting radiologists as needed, supporting patient care and safety during imaging procedures, and supervising student radiologic technologists when assigned. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.

Job Details

  • Schedule: Nights; Monday through Friday with shift hours of 8 and a minimum of 40 hours per week. On-call required, one week every 4th week. Schedule may include Mon-Fri 7:30a–4p or 7:00–3:30p, with potential floating to other facilities as needed.
  • Required Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited school of Allied Health Professionals; South Carolina Radiation Quality Standard Association (SCRQSA) Radiographer Certification; ARRT Radiography (R) Certification; Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association; Minimum experience as a radiologic technologist of at least 2 years, or at least 1 year of experience in Special Procedures/Vascular Interventional Radiology.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Completion of an AART accredited Vascular Interventional Radiology Program; AART VI Radiology Certification.
  • Additional Information: Responsible for obtaining the correct written order for procedures, ensuring correct orders/diagnosis/clinical history are entered into the computer system, and communicating effectively with radiologists regarding procedures in both verbal and written formats. Supports patient preparation and education regarding imaging procedures and informed consent as needed, and provides discharge instruction communication to families. Practices radiation safety in accordance with ALARA principles and follows applicable safety and radiation protection guidelines, including OSHA, DHEC, FDA, and The Joint Commission (TJC) standards. Ensures safe operation of special procedures and processing equipment, maintains current licensure requirements, completes required annual in-services, and supports departmental goals while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive and medical information.
