Job Summary: CT Technologist (Computed Tomography) — Detroit, Michigan
Under general supervision, performs computerized tomographic (CT) radiological procedures on patients and may perform general diagnostic radiology examinations. Responsibilities include preparing patients for imaging, reviewing clinical information, operating CT equipment to capture diagnostic images, and administering intravenous contrast media when required. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.

Job Details

  • Schedule: Nights, 6:00 PM–6:30 AM, with 12 shift hours and a minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: High school diploma or General Educational Development (G.E.D.) equivalent; Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) and the advanced registry in Computed Tomography (CT) or registry-eligible; Basic Life Support (BLS); ability to operate CT equipment; previous general radiography experience; maintains required hours of continued medical education.

  • Responsibilities: Explains examination procedures to patients and prepares patients for imaging; reviews clinical data on requisitions and obtains additional patient medical history as needed; prepares procedure rooms and replenishes stock and supplies; analyzes patient anatomy, sets up equipment, and performs CT scans; manually controls equipment to obtain proper diagnostic information; administers intravenous contrast media, utilizes power injectors when applicable, monitors for possible reactions, and provides immediate care if a reaction occurs; may prepare and set up sterile equipment, supplies, and monitors as required; assists the radiologist with complex sterile diagnostic procedures such as biopsies; performs imaging with radiation protection principles, including shielding, appropriate equipment settings to reduce dose, and use of other ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) techniques; resolves image exceptions and ensures high-quality image delivery into PACS, including viewing images and confirming image/series counts; completes study indexing in the Radiology Information System (RIS), including study begin, study end, and completion; reviews and confirms study protocols with the radiologist as necessary prior to performing the study; completes required documentation in the medical record and within the radiology information system; demonstrates team standards of excellence including AIDET and open communication.
  • Additional Information: This is a 13-week contract assignment. Shift scheduling is flexible overnight with block scheduling.
