Job Summary: CT Technologist (Detroit, MI)
Under general supervision, this role specializes in the performance of computerized tomographic (CT) radiological procedures on patients and may perform general diagnostic radiology examinations. Responsibilities include preparing patients for CT imaging, reviewing clinical data, operating CT equipment to capture diagnostic images, and administering intravenous contrast media when required while monitoring for potential reactions. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Nights, 6:00 PM–6:30 AM; shift hours are 12, with a minimum of 36 hours per week. Block scheduling may be required.
- Required Qualifications: High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent; Basic Life Support (BLS); must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) and the advanced registry in Computed Tomography (CT) or registry-eligible; ARRT CT certification; previous general radiography experience; ability to operate CT equipment; ability to demonstrate core customer service responsibilities and behaviors, including communication, ownership, understanding, motivation, sensitivity, excellence, teamwork, respect, and responsiveness through ongoing training and in-services; personal qualities include self-direction, flexibility, team commitment, initiative and willingness to learn, openness to new learning experiences, and respect for diversity without judgment.

- Additional Information:
- Explains exam procedures to patients and prepares patients for imaging.
- Reviews clinical data on requisition, obtains additional patient history as necessary, and prepares the procedure room by replenishing supplies.
- Sets up equipment, performs CT scans, and manually controls equipment to obtain proper diagnostic information.
- Administers intravenous contrast media (including use of power injectors), monitors for possible reactions, and provides immediate care if a reaction occurs.
- May prepare and set up sterile equipment, monitors, and supplies required for procedures; ensures adequate supplies are on hand and properly stored.
- Assists radiologists in performing complex sterile diagnostic procedures such as biopsies.
- Performs imaging while demonstrating radiation protection principles, including appropriate shielding, selection of equipment settings to reduce dose, and use of other ALARA techniques.
- Supports imaging workflow by resolving image exceptions, ensuring high-quality image delivery into PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System), and confirming image/series counts.
- Completes study indexing in the Radiology Information System (RIS), including study begin/end and completion.
- Reviews and confirms clinical protocols with the radiologist as necessary before performing the study.
- Completes required documentation in the medical record and within PACS/RIS to support clinical documentation and radiology information system functions.
- Physical/working conditions may include exposure to radiation if proper precautions are not utilized, exposure to high-voltage equipment, potential exposure to contagious patients, and occasional lifting or moving equipment/patients exceeding 10 lbs.
