Cardiac Cath Lab Technologist (CCL TECH) — Erie, Pennsylvania
The Cardiac Cath Lab Technologist supports imaging procedures by performing a variety of technical tasks that require independent judgment, initiative, and appropriate radiation safety practices. Responsibilities include positioning patients, maintaining aseptic technique and time-out processes, administering contrast under physician direction, and assisting in first assist roles. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details
- Schedule: Days, Monday through Friday 8-hour shifts (7:00am to 3:30pm and 8:00am to 4:30pm), with on-call evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays; 40 hours per week.
- Start Date: 06/22/2026
- Required Qualifications: Basic Life Support (BLS); ARRT Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiology or ARRT certificate, or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist, or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist; license/certification must be brought on the first day.
- Preferred Qualifications: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Responsibilities:
- Perform imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision, demonstrating independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative.
- Demonstrate proper positioning and radiographic techniques for diagnostic and interventional procedures, including patient preparation, equipment operation, and patient monitoring.
- Practice radiation safety for the patient and others in the procedure room, including appropriate use of lead shielding and monitoring devices, and ensure documentation of patient radiation exposure in the electronic record.
- Support aseptic technique and patient safety using a time-out process during procedures.
- Demonstrate competency functioning in the first assist position.
- Administer contrast under the direction of the procedure physician.
- Provide stand-by call coverage as scheduled in accordance with the system-wide stand-by call procedure/policy.
- Maintain point-of-care testing standards, including daily quality control for devices used for procedures.
- Interact with patients and coworkers with dignity and respect; work as a team member to help expedite patient care.
- Communicate clearly with patients to explain procedures and address fears to support cooperation.
- Use two patient identifiers and apply universal protocol; review patient history and orders and follow departmental protocols for optimal data acquisition.
- Document required patient history in the electronic record.
- Ensure images are properly coded, tracked through the PACS, and networked to the appropriate electronic record for archival and interpretation; ensure charges are entered for procedures performed.
- Maintain continuing education and competency requirements for the position.
