Medical Technologist (MT) — Location: The healthcare provider is seeking a dedicated Medical Technologist for a temporary assignment. This role involves preparing clinical specimens for laboratory testing, maintaining laboratory instruments, and ensuring quality control measures are met in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
Job Details
- Position Description: Prepare clinical samples and products for testing, including accessioning and processing, following laboratory protocols. Set up, maintain, troubleshoot, and assist in validation of laboratory instruments. Perform quality control measurements such as environmental, equipment/software, and product quality controls. Maintain sample inventories, including receipt, processing, storage, and disposal, with updates to computer databases. Respond to emergency staffing situations and assist or substitute for other lab members as needed.
- Required Qualifications: Minimum of 2 years college education in biology or related field plus 3 years of experience in a life science or chemistry laboratory; or 4 years college education plus 1 year laboratory experience. Hands-on experience with sample handling, quantitative chemical analysis, enzyme assays, or procedures with equivalent complexity. Knowledge of computer use including moderately advanced Microsoft Excel. Experience with operating laboratory instruments such as automated measurement instruments.
- Schedule: Days shift, 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week.
- Additional Information: Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisor or laboratory director, including ordering supplies, laboratory maintenance, and training back-up staff. Strictly observe privacy and security policies, maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information. Use complex computer systems for specimen tracking and data management. May be required to work in areas with potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
