Job Summary
Operating Room Open Heart Specialist in Wausau — located at the organization’s healthcare facility. This position involves providing proficient surgical assistance in cardiothoracic procedures within a busy operating room environment. The role demands a skilled professional with solid experience in cardiovascular and thoracic surgeries, supporting a team of surgeons and surgical staff.
Job Details
- Certifications, Education, and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate Degree or Certificate preferred. Must have a CST license and BLS certification. Minimum of 2+ years of CVOR experience required, with prior travel experience preferred.
- Schedule: Days shift, 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday, with a guaranteed minimum of 40 hours per week. Shift hours are from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM.
- Additional responsibilities: Efficiently setting up operative suites, managing case carts, supporting multiple specialties, and maintaining room turnover. Must be adaptable in performing downtime tasks such as cleaning and case cart organization.
- Float Requirements: May be required to float to all Central Aspirus locations if needed.
- On-Call and Weekend Responsibilities: One night of call per week, one weekend per month, and one backup per week, with a 30-minute response time. Every third weekend and holiday rotation required.
- Special Skills: Experience with Cardiac/Thoracic procedures and Thoracic robot-assisted surgeries. Ability to manage change, work resiliently, and contribute positively in downtime tasks.
- Additional Notes: Gown color is flexible. The contract includes up to 36 hours of unbillable low census hours. Additional on-call or callback hours are possible, with callback minimums of 2 hours. During flu season, vaccination is mandatory, or a mask must be worn at all times.
