Job Summary
Surgical Technician/Operating Room Technician (ORT) – located off the Oregon Coast. This role involves facilitating physician’s performance of invasive, therapeutic, and diagnostic procedures within a 25-bed critical access medical center. The position focuses on handling instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during surgical procedures, ensuring quality patient care and maintaining a sterile environment.
Job Details
- Required Qualifications: Associate Degree or Certificate of Program Completion in Surgical Technology; certification from the National Board of Surgical Technologists or the Association of Surgical Technologists is preferred; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor is preferred; relevant acute care experience is preferred; 0 years of experience minimum.
- Schedule: Days shift, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- The Surgical Technician facilitates surgical procedures, verifies surgery with consent forms, and assists in preparing the sterile field, instruments, and supplies. They pass instruments to surgeons, anticipate needs for additional supplies, perform appropriate counts, and secure dressings after incision closure. The role includes assisting in room turnover, cleaning instruments for sterilization, and supporting other team members with preparatory tasks.
- Responsibilities also include checking supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures, helping with draping sterile fields, and assisting in prepping rooms for subsequent patients.
- The position involves assisting in maintaining a sterile environment, supporting surgical team operations, and performing other related duties as assigned.
