Although Oklahoma City has a virtual smorgasbord of savory brunch and breakfast options, number one on our list is Waffle Champion. Their specialty is hand-crafted waffle sandwiches, and all of them offer unique combinations of your favorite breakfast foods layered between two buttermilk or Belgian style waffles. If you&rsquo;re into the chicken and waffle craze, we highly recommend the buttermilk fried chicken waffle sandwich with Tabasco honey. Other options include a cheeseburger mac version made with grass-fed bison and macaroni and cheese, a pizza/grilled cheese combination and more. Conscientious carnivores will be happy to know they use free-range eggs and offer a gluten-free waffle option made with rice flour.

Bricktown is also a great place for photo-ops, so don&rsquo;t forget to bring your camera.

Experience the Wild, Wild West&rsquo;s Cowboy and Native American Culture

Oklahoma City is home to the National Cowboy &amp; Western Heritage Museum, which offers a wonderful way to learn about Western culture even if you only have a couple of hours to spare. An amazing collection of both classic and contemporary Western art, a turn-of-the-century town and interactive galleries that showcase American cowboys, rodeos, Native American culture, Victorian firearms and frontier military and Western performers that bring the Wild Wild West to life. The museum also offers dining and shopping options, including a collection of one-of-a-kind Native American jewelry and accessories available in the gift shop.

Pay Tribute at the Oklahoma City National Memorial &amp; Museum 
April 19, 1995 was a gut-wrenching day for most of America as 168 lives were lost in the horrific bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building, which was the deadliest terror attack on American soil prior to 9/11. The memorial and museum pay tribute to the lives lost that day as well as all the men, women and animals who took part in the rescue and recovery efforts following the event. The site is a well-regarded favorite of locals, and offers visitors the opportunity to reflect on this American tragedy that changed this city and its people forever.

The Blue Note Lounge is known for its cheap drinks, but they also offer a variety of nightly drink specials and free pool. They also feature a modest menu of bar-food favorites if you get the late-night munchies.

Oklahoma City may not be on most people&rsquo;s list of must-visit cities, but many of our travelers who&rsquo;ve visited on assignment have reported that they were pleasantly surprised.
