This time, we’re spotlighting one of our outstanding school-based occupational therapists, Nisha S.</p><p>Here’s why Nisha decided to become a school OT, what she enjoys most about working with the Cross Country Education team and schools, and what advice she has for school OTs just embarking on their careers.</p><h3>Why did you become an occupational therapist?</h3><ul><li>I always knew that I wanted to work in the healthcare field with children in some capacity. It wasn’t until I was introduced to the field of occupational therapy that I knew this was the area I wanted to work in. I really enjoy the holistic aspect of OT and helping students develop and adapt skills to gain more independence.</li></ul><h3>What do you like about working as an OT with Cross Country Education?</h3><ul><li>I really like the mentorship and support we receive through Cross Country Education. Our OT lead and team have been so supportive and helpful with everything. We are also able to collaborate with and learn from many different modalities to support our students. I have also appreciated the guidance from the office staff.</li></ul><h3>What have you liked about your experience working at CCE schools?</h3><ul><li>I have been working with many of the same CCE schools for the last 6+ years, so I have really enjoyed the relationships I have built with the schools and the staff. When going into the schools, it really feels like working with friends that you have known for many years.</li></ul><h3>What advice would you give someone just starting out as a school OT?</h3><ul><li>My best advice would be to ask questions.
