 It is always a great pleasure to get the chance to know our field staff a
 little better and understand why it is that they do what they do. They offer
 words of wisdom, sage advice for those just starting out in the field and
 great insight into the rewarding field of education.



 This week we want to celebrate Samantha Burr, School Nurse. Samantha took some
 time to share her reasons for choosing the education field and offer up some
 advice for those just starting out.


Why did you become a School Nurse? 


 I became a nurse because I love everything about the medical field and most of
 all patient care. I became a school nurse because children are my favorite
 demographic and entering into the world of school nursing allowed me to take
 my two favorite things and put them together.



 What do you like about Cross Country Education (formerly DirectEd)?



 DirectED has given me the ability to help a population of students who might
 not otherwise get the care they need. For example, I get to work with a lot of
 homeschooled and migrant students. I get to help parents and teachers identify
 health issues and assist them in solutions to those issues so that their
 students and children get to have safe, healthy, and, I hope, fun learning
 environments.



 What have you liked about your experience working at schools with Cross
 Country Education?



 I have been very welcomed at all of the schools that I have worked with
 through DirectED. I appreciate the teamwork that goes into making that happen
 as it is a lot of coordination and communication.



 What kind of advice would you give to those starting out in your field?
 



 I think that if you do what you love, you will love what you do and that makes
 all the difference. Being happy in your job filters into the other parts of
 your life and so not only are you able to make great strides in your career
 but you can also make equal achievements in your personal life.
