 and their families &ndash; often those from low-income communities -- since
 the shift to school-from-home. Attempts are being made to check in, provide
 instructional materials and support as well as to schedule special education
 services for students with IEPs with little success. Often these attempts
 end in reaching a disconnected or wrong phone number, or a full voicemail
 inbox.



 Here are some contact methods you might want to consider if you have
 trouble reaching specific students during the current COVID-19
 pandemic:

 Contact the student&rsquo;s emergency contacts
 </li>
 <li>
 Seek support from the student&rsquo;s friends if they have been in
 contact
 </li>
 <li>
 Post on school social media and seek to have all parents/age appropriate
 students follow and provide contact information
 </li>
 <li>
 Send home simple informational fliers to provide specific individuals
 with additional resources
 </li>
</ol>


 Make sure you document all attempts and methods of outreach. Personalized
 messages have proven to be most effective. If you require further advice or
