I was getting frustrated and bored with my permanent job. I always wanted to live in California.</div><h3>What made you decide to travel with Cross Country?</h3><div>A recommendation from a friend.</div><h3>What were the best parts of your time traveling?</h3><div>Being able to take time off when you want to. I recently just took a month of to go to Thailand and Vietnam. I also enjoyed getting to take my time and explore places. And fishing in Alaska!</div><h3>If you had one piece of advice for a new traveler what would it be?</h3><div>Introduce yourself to everyone you meet both at work and outside of work. Be friendly and remember you can always learn a new way to do something. It had been a dream of mine since I was a kid to snowboard in the Rockies! I ended up buying a season pass to 5 mountains and went all winter long. One day after a nightshift a bunch of my coworkers and I took a 2 hour drive to snowboard all day.</div><div></div><div>This is what I love about travel nursing. Yes, I could have taken a week off, rented a condo, and skied for a week. But, the lift tickets alone would have cost more than my season pass did. I also got to pick the best days and go. I drove up to the mountains at least once a week.</div><h3>What has been one of your least favorite experiences as a travel nurse?</h3><div>Paper charting. And trying to get licensed in Virginia. It ended up delaying my contract a week. Pro tip: drive to the Virginia Board of Nursing and ask for a 30 day letter.</div><h3>What have been some of your favorite travel nurse assignment locations?</h3><div>Alaska for sure. Before travel nursing I never thought of it as a place I would live. Many of the travel nurses told me stories about how beautiful it is and how much fun they had, so I went! I am even thinking of going back!</div><h3>Tell us about the experience you had with your recruiter</h3><div>Dee is awesome! She responds quickly to my email/phone calls.</div><h3>Have you traveled with other Cross Country travelers and what was the impact that had on your overall experience?</h3><div>Yes! I have been traveling with my friend Andrea for 2.5 years! We have a great time everywhere we go.</div><h3>Are there any online resources that you find especially useful as a travel nurse?</h3><div>I try to look on the local sites or local blogs to find events in the area and Audible for long car rides is a must.</div><div></div>
