Here, Ty shares why she decided to become a counselor, what she enjoys most about working with the Cross Country Education team and schools, and what advice she has for school counselors just embarking on their careers.</p><h3>Why did you become a counselor?</h3><p>While working as a pre-intern teacher for a few years, I realized the need for understanding and compassion for students in underprivileged schools. Deciding to pursue counseling was a natural progression.</p><h3>What do you like about working as a counselor with Cross Country Education?</h3><p>Cross Country Education recognizes the commitment and achievements of every employee. The office staff is supportive and knowledgeable to service any questions or concerns.&nbsp;CCE encourages self-care to all staff and providers. Most of all, I enjoy the professional developments. CCE provides PDs that are relevant to the field of each department, presenting content that is current and cutting edge.&nbsp;And I cannot forget about the flexibility!</p><h3>What have you liked about your experience working at Cross Country Education schools?</h3><p>Cross Country Education schools are amazing in that they welcome CCE providers to campus with open arms. A perfect example is, arriving to one of my first school sites and an office administrator said, “When CCE arrives, we know that everything will be okay.&nbsp;You guys are amazing!” CCE has an amazing reputation.</p><h3>What advice would you give to school counselors just starting out in the field?</h3><p>Know your students and families in order to best assess their needs; it will go a long way. Never hesitate to ask for help.
